I like the food?
The best jamaican restaurant in va. Hands down.
This is one of my favorite Richmond holes in the wall. Off the beaten path. Absolutely fantastic comfort food - made with love. Very friendly staff.
MoreNever disappointed when I eat at Jamaica House.
Food was hot and on point.
Black owned business which is rare nowadays, Been eating here since 2011 and I notice a slight difference in Oxtail & cabbage proportion receiving less nowadays I also noticed the food is missing that savory taste that it once had....Still the best Jamaican restaurant in Richmond:-)
MoreThis place has the worst customer service and Everytime I get food from here it takes aExtremely long time I love the food but itโs absolutely the worst food place in Richmond for customer service . I donโt get why itโs always a line even if you call your food in on the phone I called 40 mins in advance still had to wait behind people
MoreThe jerk chicken was awesome! The food was fresh, and hot and well worth the price. If you want to eat true authentic Jamaican food this is the place to go. You might want to take it to go, because they dont have air conditioning. Way too hot to eat and enjoy your food. Quick and friendly service!
MoreThe complaints of rudeness and bad attitudes are true. They definitely donโt care about customer service.
MoreOnly call in orders right now but the food is great
Food isnt the same I drove here plenty of times because the food was great like some real yardy food but now it's sad no curry no jerk chicken comes with no sauce and no plantains sad situation
MoreThe line was long and the place seemed popular so I was expecting to wait a little bit for the food. I was told it would take 15-20 minutes because along with goat curry, I also ordered the fried Fish & that is made to order. At 15 minutes, I asked the lady in the front, how much longer till my food would be ready. She sharply responds that sheโd already told me it would take extra time. I say, โI know, I understand. Just wanted to know how much longer so I could go add time to my street parkingโ. She asks โwell how long have you been waiting?โ I say โ10-15 minutesโ. She then tells me that itโll still be 15-20 minutes longer & that I could go wait in my car if I wanted. I ended up WAITING exactly 1 HOUR, from the time they took my order. Was the taste worth the wait? Nope!
MoreFood good but space isn't used customers come last money come first. Leaking air conditioner above door going on 6 years and poor A/C in the Summer. Customers treated like cattle. Great food authenthic flavor but D - service/space.
MoreThis is a busy restaurant, and for good reason to. Authentic Jamaican cuisine at its best. The stewed oxtails were excellently prepared. I would go out of my way to eat it at this place again.
MoreAmazing food, my only issue is that there isn't enough Oxtail sometimes but honestly the food is so worth it I don't even care that much
MoreGood food, but the young lady who took my order had a NASTY attitude. To think, I even tipped her some dollars. SMH! Where was Carl!! I frequent Jamaica house when I visit RVA. People like her make me want to stop coimg there
MoreFood was okay. The jerk chicken was not cooked on a grill but was baked so it lacked the smoky jerk flavor I'm accustomed too. It was very spicy for those who like a kick. The rice and cabbage it came with was bland but not unpleasant. The coco bread and beef patty were good. Waited 20 min for food which I've found is typical for ethnic eateries.
MoreThe food is great & the employees are also awesome
Great place to eat, truly 5 Star!
If you're on a lunch break please be cautious.if the line not extremely long they have a bad way of communicating with their customers, After waiting 20 minutes for my order I was informed that it didn't have everything needed to fill my order. The sad part is I used to love this place this is my first time revisiting after over a year due to my last experience not being a good one.
MoreThe women with the dreads is amazing she has the best smile ๐ Great food highly Recommend!! Great place to eat..
Moregreat restaurant. The food is great, closest thing to the original you can find in Virginia. cons: smaller size restaurant so often line extends outside, the dining experience is lacking due to size also, but for them to offer it, is also a plus. pro: Real Jamaican cooking your food and communicating with the customers, cheap prices for the amount of food your getting, amazing wall art and at a perfect spot in the city. I recommend the island fry or Red Snapper.
MoreCalled in order still had to wait the order wasnt even made after 20 mins
Definitely would recommend Jamaica house! Food is always on point! Excellent service!
MoreAwesome food. It's best to take out not too many tables and it's real small
It has really good food, it is on the spicy side but it is awesome.
The pepper steak is my favorite. The meat is tender and the gravy is perfect. The ten dollar portion is enough for two. The rice and peas delicious along with the cabbage. Don't forget the pineapple soda to quench your thirst.
MoreAmazing food and service. The interior has amazing art as well.
They run out of chicken patties so quickly ,but I still try ,love them with my ox tails dish
MoreOMG! Perfect๐ The Oxtails. I'm hooked. The most comforting food๐น
Love the food here, everything taste so amazing here. They have a great menu selection to and everything is reasonably priced.
MoreThe food was hot and ready. I called in my order. It was delicious and so was the dessert.
MoreTop of the line yaadmon food
It only took me 10 years to visit this place and damn was I missing out! The flavors were amazing! I had the beef party and island fry chicken and it was delicious. The island fry was actually sweet not spicy like most associate with Jamaican food. And the cabbage and beans and rice....๐๐๐๐. So good!!! This is one spot I will be coming back to.
MoreEven though I rated this place with 5 stars because the food is really good, I cant believe that akee and salt fish is a breakfast dish only, like what the Bloodclaat!
MoreDO NOT ORDER OR EAT FROM HERE!!! I ORDERED FROM HERE AND RECEIVED HALF MY ORDER AND WHEN I CALLED, THEY DO DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. HOW YOU GONNA TAKE ALL MY MONEY BUT NOT GIVE ME WHAT I PAID FOR? AND THE PATTIES ARE DRY AND DOES NOT SEEM THAT THE FOOD IS MADE FRESH TO ORDER! DEM TOO TEIF!!!
MoreI'm disappointed they have gotten so big they no longer get the orders correct. I love the food and been a customer since they opened, before they became popular, there is no reason the customer service has to be so poor. It saddens me because I want to support them and when they get the order correct, it's great.
MoreMy husband and i love This place GREAT OXTAILS N CURRY CHICKEN N PEPPER STEAK!! N THEY R FAST N FRIENDLY ... N THEY REMEMBER THERE CUSTOMERS FACES!๐ฏ๐๐
MoreIt's tasty โ not bad at all. Being from Brooklyn, keep in mind I'm comparing it to some of my usual spots out there.
MoreI use to love it but now it's just okay
Forgot the guys name thatโs pretty much always at the register, but heโs always sweet and interacts with his customers very well. Came on a busy day, the line was out the door but everyone was very respectful and friendly. Didnโt have to wait long to get my phone, Iโm a oxtail gyal so I always get the oxtail plate with rice and beans plus cabbage- the food is always delicious and filling. Also love the limeade and beef patties, the only thing I wish is that the patties were a little bit flaky on the top but thatโs my personal preference lol. However, everything about the restaurant and service is awesome!!
MoreFood is delicious. Long line but worth it. I've been eating there for 25 years.. Yum.
MoreBest Authentic Jamaican food in Richmond...........THE BEST OXTAILS EVER๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐งก๐๐๐๐๐
MoreSome days are better than others...Lately I haven't been too impressed with my meals but I continue going back from time to time; still.
MoreGreat food although it was my first time eating Jamaican food. Did not disappoint. My first jerk chicken. It was spicy, had a lot of meat and the rice was perfectly cooked
MoreFood is great.... but customer service super rude..... especially the black girl with the dreads and she wears glasses.... honey a smile goes a long wayszzzzz.... smh
MoreAlways absolutely amazing food and friendly staff...Recommend this place gladly.
At an average 4.4 rating, this place needs little to convince people to go here for some solid Jamaican food. The decor is fun and expressive. Murals on the walls really show off they passion in bringing a slice of Jamaica to Richmond. Prices are on par with what you get as well. $9 for large portions and about $2 for beef patties. Let's get into the food. The beef patty was perfectly cooked and with a good hint of spice. I also ordered the Island Fried Chicken. It was fried chicken smothered in island sauce. The sauce was sweet, but did not hide the savory fried chicken. If you're looking for a good representation of Jamaican food, try this place out.
MoreThe oxtails are super good but I wonโt be spending my money there any more because every time I want oxtails only I can never get it yyyy I donโt understand Iโm spending my money but canโt get what I want๐๐ฝAn the cook is very rude I am very disappointed
MoreWords like good or great are an understatement. You know a restaurant is good when you can eat their food countlessly and it still taste brand new and fresh to the tongue. Thatโs how I feel about this restaurant. The food is inexpensive, the menu is plentiful, and the service is efficient and courteous; My only wish is that the location was bigger so I could sit down there and live my life surrounded by good food and people with good taste
MoreGreat Great delicious jamaican style food. Really delicious!
